Snappy H’appy Photo Challenge-Week 3

Here we are into Week 3 of the Snappy H’appy Photo Challenge. This week’s challenge is Watercolor Apps. For more information about the challenge, click here.

Watercolor is among my most favorite mediums, so I was quite excited when I discovered there were apps that could replicate the process.

This week’s photo features Master Hubble in his “Fat Tuesday” attire and then processed with two different watercolor apps: Jixi Pix’s Haiku and Waterlogue. Of the two, Waterlogue is by far (to me) the more pleasing app in that it resembles more closely watercolor effects. Although I like Jixi Pix products a lot, I have never quite warmed up to Haiku-I find it overwhelming in its effects and the end result–again to me-can border precariously on just messy-which is saying something, given that I do not always have the lightest hand in processing my images.

In the meantime, our Dog Quote for Today:

“What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? Would would this would be like without dogs?”
― Mary Oliver, Dog Songs

Here is the original photo taken with the iPhone 4s and the same photo with Haiku and Waterlogue-

For today: Mardi Gras Hubble

  1. I agree that the Waterlogue did a better job of doing a ‘traditional’ watercolor rendering. And actually made Hubble look even more endearing and deserving of a ‘tater cookie! so it wins the prize! lol

  5. The Waterlogue photo turned out great, and I too prefer it’s true to the artistic medium to the Haiku effect. I could not find a good photo for the nice effect it gives, though, so tried another app. I really do like how yours turned out!
