New Friend

Meet Twister-a Pharoah Hound

Twister lives in the village of Currituck; he is a retired AKC champion–something he achieved at the ripe old age of 3. He is now 7 and enjoying the high life. I had an opportunity to watch him exercise while I was there. He bounds through tall grasses like it was nothing, easily clearing three to four feet off the ground. These are sight dogs–very focused and very good hunters. The breed is thought to have been used as hunting dogs by Egyptian royalty–whatever their origins, they are an old breed, dating back over 2000 years.

Twister now works as a therapy dog where he visits the elderly. I found him a delight and a very gentle boy. He was a little unsure about having his picture taken, but for just meeting me and the fact there was a lot of activity in the yard, he did quite well.

Today’s Dog Quote:

“When was the last time someone was so overjoyed to see you, so brimming with love and affection that they literally ran to greet you? A dog will do that for you–ten, twenty, thirty times a day.”

    • Watching him run was nothing short of poetic-sleek and dynamic, yet you could feel the power-an amazing animal to be sure-I can see why they held in such high regard by royalty-though Hubble says he is sleek and dynamic too–only on a Matchbox scale 😉
