You Are My Sunshine . . .

At least one of them anyway . . .

Jack Henry and some sunflowers–with his natty green tie and those big, beautiful blooms, he could talk his way of just about anything, I think.

  1. There’s lots to see in your photos.

For me it’s the bow tie that makes it work, otherwise it would simply be a dog behind some sunflowers (not that there is anything wrong with a dog behind some sunflowers!) – but the bow tie on that very handsome dog makes it something more.

And now I notice the similar colour of the background and the material of whatever it is that the sunflowers are resting on. Another good element to bind the picture together.

At the same time, my very first thought was that the arrangement pleased me and didn’t please me at the same time. It is something to do with the sunflowers creating a line that runs right across the picture. It would look different if the picture was cropped at the bottom of the sunflowers so there was no material below, or if the sunflowers didn’t stretch edge to edge.

Lots to see and think about in your compositions, and really lovely.

    • Thank you David so much for your very thoughtful comments-it is interesting your note about the bottom of the image. I cropped another image with Jack Henry more in profile-it was a tight crop that cut off the bottom of the setup table with just the flowers and the ones on the end being cut out more. I try to post different pictures from the blog on my Instagram and after looking at that again and this one, I would agree that it works better without the material showing. And yes, Jack Henry knows how to rock a bow tie– πŸ˜‰ I appreciate you taking the time to look and comment-thank you!

    • Thank you Johanna so much–we are always happy to hear others are cheered by our posts. We can all use some extra sunshine and joy these days it seems- Appreciate you visiting and our best always to the Princess-

  2. Very dapper indeed. I feel as if Jack Henry will speak any minute! (Have always loved the shape of this breed’s head. It’s a thing of beauty to me.) I’m so happy to have come across your lovely, inspiring works and can’t wait to peruse the archives.

    • Thank you! Jack Henry can be quite vocal–in addition to his barking, he also trills and can whine with the best of them πŸ˜‰ His head is quite huge-when he was younger, he looked like a bobble head trying to keep his head up-happily he the rest of his body caught up to his head. He is indeed a very handsome boy and he receives compliments often from people who appreciate the breed. We are pleased that you found us and appreciate you taking the time to look and comment-Thank you again!

    • Thank you so much Roberta-he is a pretty confident dog and working with him through photography, I think has helped him. When he sees the camera or the iPhone, he is usually ready to go to *work*-Thank you so much for visiting!
