DreamWalkers
If you have been looking the last few weeks at the blog, you might have noticed a new direction. While I have not given up on portraits and other images that have been a large part of Little Dogs Laughed, experimenting with a more illustrative type of approach has been driving my process as of late.
Much of the inspiration for these images is deeply personal–drawing on childhood dreams and fears. One of those came in the form of what I call now “DreamWalkers,” creatures who seek to snatch good dreams and turn them into bad ones-at least that was my rationale for nightmares. Later, as an adult, I found out that in fact there is a tremendous amount of information about Dream Walkers. Who knew? Not me.
These DreamWalkers are in fact lovely wire and bead sculptures of meerkats created by South African artist Oscar Tomu. But for my purposes, they became the creatures that once populated my dreams–though trust me, these are much better looking. And what are Hubble and Bear doing? I leave that to the viewer.

For today: DreamWalkers
Surreal! But I do see Hubble.

Now that just gives me the chicken skin. But I like it. Master Hubble wishes he had not eaten the pizza before bed.

😮 ! Hubble agrees-he says next time-skip those icky veggies and pile on the meat-then it will definitely be sweet dreams for me 😉 Thanks so much for visiting and paws up to Master Max!
