The Helper
As I was trying to get things situated for a still-life shot for Move the Chair, the other WP blog, my littlest helper decided to get in on the action. Actually he was intrigued by the smell of an old dog collar that belonged to a companion of long ago and far away. I used the Polamatic app for this image. I have been looking at books of polaroids and was reminded of how much I love those cameras, their film and the images they produced.
Today’s Dog Quote:
βAny man with money to make the purchase may become a dog’s owner. But no man –spend he ever so much coin and food and tact in the effort– may become a dog’s Master without consent of the dog. Do you get the difference? And he whom a dog once unreservedly accepts as Master is forever that dog’s God.β
β Albert Payson Terhune, Lad: A Dog

For today: Contemplating Those Before Him
He looks to be introspectively considering mortality, but I expect he is thinking about the same things Warren thinks about – food, sleeping, going out, and the cats

What a tender, sweet image. Animals know way more than we sometimes give them credit for. Thanks for sharing. π

They do, they do Laura, particularly when one of the pack is no longer with us-we all mourn, but I suspect that dogs help us more to move through the grief-Thanks for visiting!

I shall believe that this dog recognizes the scent as belonging to the reincarnated dog, perhaps himself

Entirely possible-I do believe that animals have access to worlds we cannot see-

Oh do! You can choose from different polaroid films, add text, borders-the only thing it does not do is spit a picture out of the phone π

Hubble looks like he’s saying, ‘You mean you had other dogs before me?’
I love the quote. Pearl sometimes looks at me like I’m God, and it makes me feel great! Millie has more sense – she knows very well I’m no deity.

Yes, I am sure Hubble is processing that very thought-I wish mine looked at me like I am God–however it is more like maid, cook and all around help- Thanks for visiting Annabelle-and many hugs to the those fine girls!

What a beautiful quote and photo, Meg! Lovely! To become a dog’s master does mean that the dog has consented to follow your direction/guidance/leadership. It must be earned! But it lasts forever. That’s one of the things I absolutely love about dogs. π
